Engineering - Structural & Civil Design

G&B offers a wide range of engineering services to assist you in running your projects, optimising cost (without increasing your initial investment) and keeping your delivery dates. The company’s specialised teams can assist you during the full design phase of your project.

The company uses the best and latest software and hardware in the market to ensure best results in your projects and our QA department controls all the project’s tasks to avoid a badly resourced management. Our experience with the internal procedures could assist you with your effort of keeping your project cost controlled and on schedule.

The Group’s companies are located in UK, Spain, USA and Mexico and are well accustomed to operating internationally and consequently, the group’s engineers are familiar with the different international standards, as well as with the internal codes of main industrial countries. G&B draws on this extensive expertise when undertaking international projects.

Structural & Civil DesignWide design and analysis experience in most types of structures, ranging from small frames and skids right up to 1400 tonne weight of steel, in the petrochemical (offshore and onshore), chemical, power generation, nuclear, pharmaceutical, food, refrigeration, heating and ventilation, etc. industries.

The design is generally tailored to the project requirements for equipment, personnel and maintenance.

Structure Design Capability:

  • Structural analysis combined with an assessment of both, static and dynamic behaviour of structures.
  • This experience covers the following: Platform secondary structures, large module support frames, piping/ducting/equipment supports, large skids (up to 1400ton), piperacks, sea containers and other secondary structures.
  • Methodology of analysis: Both sophisticated FEM analysis, as well as more simplified methodologies of structural calculations are regularly performed using computers and supplemented with Mathcad/xls typed hand calculations where needed.
  • Production of 3D models and 2D general arrangement/fabrication drawings with full MTO
  • Structural design loading: transport by sea, land and air, lifting, FPSO ship motion, seismic, wind, sea waves ('green water'), blast, pipe anchor/ps forces, dropped objects, equipment vibrations, fatigue, etc.

Design Codes: AISC, AISI, SSPC, ACI, CTE, BS 5950, EUROCODE EC3, NS3472, DnV & NORSOK codes and approval by DnV or Lloyds.

Design Software: STAAD PRO and SAP2000 (for FEA, refer to the FEA in this Engineering section)

Drafting software: Autocad and SolidWorks.
